Hello. I’m Emma. I grew up in Manchester, where I developed a love of buildings, canals, railways, and those spaces in-between where wild things grow. I now live in Derby, a small city surrounded by wild and beautiful spaces. I take my inspiration from stories, myths, old sci-fi, maps, time-travel dreams, tea, libraries, music, and three a.m. conversations.
I make things from paper and fabric and clay and wire and old books. I started out making zines and chapbooks, learning different printmaking and bookbinding techniques. Over time, I began working with different materials, creating quirky jewellery and accessories; appliqued and embroidered cards, pictures and posters; and altered books, incorporating paper sculpture and paper cutting into my work.
I welcome commissions, especially for papercuts. Prices for these range from £10 to £200, so contact me for a quote if you’d like a one-off piece of art for a special occasion, a special someone, or for your lovely home.
I regularly teach workshops, details of which can be found
here. My background working in Libraries has given me lots of experience in craft activities to suit various projects and occasions. I have my CRB (Enhanced), Public Liability Insurance, and am PTLLS qualified.
Please feel free to get in touch with any ideas you might have for a project or a commission.
