It’s #worldmentalhealthday and this is just to s It’s #worldmentalhealthday and this is just to say it’s okay to not be okay. We need to end the stigma surrounding mental health. I’ve found as soon as you open up to people, it becomes apparent that most of us are going through similar things. It makes you realise you’re not alone, not broken, not a failure. I’ve got a lot better at recognising when I need to stop, take a pause, and let myself slow right down. In the past, I’d beat myself up about it, but now I try to be kinder to myself. I listen to what I need and go with it. Be kind with yourself, check in on your friends, and remember, these are strange, awful, times and it’s perfectly normal to feel whatever you’re feeling right now. I took this week off to go to the sticks with my f I took this week off to go to the sticks with my fave human to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. The cottage had no wifi but it did have trees, AND a hot tub. After what’s been a bonkers year for everyone, I feel really lucky that we got the chance to escape for a bit and switch off. We wandered up to Arbor Low stone circle and had the place to ourselves (apart from some sheep), then did some viaduct-ogling, and a whole LOT of cloud-watching. Last year we went to a nuclear bunker for our anniversary, so we continued the apocalyptic theme with a Hunger Games marathon (the Mr had never seen it!), albeit with a massive cheeseboard. We also got to see the Harvest Moon, and Mars, in a big open sky. We got back yesterday, and I feel properly recharged and ready to get my make on. Thanks so much for all your orders! I’ve got a week or two of cutting and poking and painting and varnishing ahead of me, and I am endlessly grateful. I’m taking part in the Creative Collaboration Ma I’m taking part in the Creative Collaboration Market tomorrow. It’s been co-ordinated by @pedddleuk and brings together 16 local online markets from all across the country under one banner. I’ll be in the @harbornehandmade section, along with a bunch of amazing local makers. I’ve put the links in my bio for the Harborne Handmade line-up, and also for the Pedddle page, which has every single market on it. You can view the preview now, and it will go live tomorrow at 10am. As you click on a market, each maker will have a clickable link directly to their shop, where you’ll buy directly from them. Even just browsing across a few of the markets, I’ve found so many perfect presents and awesome makers that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. It’s a perfect way to shop a curated mix of sellers from the comfort of your own home. These book-lover prints have been really popular s These book-lover prints have been really popular since I added them to my Etsy shop last week (link in bio). This Cicero quote, and a couple of other book-lover designs, started out as shrinkie brooches that some of you will recognise from markets. As a librarian and bibliophile, I love a good quote, especially if it concerns books, or libraries, or reading in any way. But a lot of the quotes I loved were a bit too long to add into a papercut design. So I drew or stamped them onto shrink plastic book brooches, and they always sparked great conversations at my stall. I’ve not made brooches for a while now, and I do miss those interactions. I love connecting with fellow booklovers, and trading favourite quotes with people. So as I’ve grown more confident with my lettering, I’ve been drawing more and have started creating these prints. There are a few in my @etsyuk shop already, and I’ve been working on others that I’ll share soon. So a big thank you to everyone who’s ordered one!
